School News and Updates

The Class of 2026 had an amazing day on their Class Trip to Pocono Valley Resort. They had a great time, even with the 90 degree heat! Students got a chance to zip line, try adventure courses, swim in the pool and lake, as well as many other activities. It was a fantastic day for all that attended.

DHS will be holding its annual Prom at the Galloping Hills Country Club in Kenilworth. The event was sold out, with around 200 students attending. This year's theme, “A Night at the Bayou.” Thank you to Mrs. Vakulchik and Mrs. Corrao for all of their work as the class advisers to help organize the event.

Good luck to the Softball team as they will play the first round of the NJSIAA State Tournament on Tuesday, May 26th at Home v. Keyport. The team has had a fantastic season so far, with a record of 16-9.

Good luck to the Baseball team as they play on Friday, May 22nd in the GMC Invitational Championship v. Piscataway HS, at 4 pm at Edison High School. Next week, the team plays in their first round State game on Wednesday, May 27th at Home v. Florence. The team has been on a hot streak with a record of 18-6.

DHS students concluded state assessments this week with the NJSLA Math. All 9th and 10th graders participated in the testing on Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. After 9th months of study in those classes, hopefully all of the hard work paid off and the students demonstrated their mathematical skills and proficiency.

Important Reminders

For the Class of 2026: The College Acceptances bulletin board is up at DHS. We are displaying the names of students and the colleges that they have been accepted to. As the college acceptances roll in, please be sure to contact Dr. Best and the Counseling Office so that they are aware and can add the names and schools for display.

REMINDER: The DHS Homework Help Center runs from 2:45 - 3:45 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the DHS Tech Center. Students can come to get extra help from teachers with their school work or just sit and have a quiet place to get things done. We encourage students to attend so that they have fewer or no assignments to do when they get home.

FINAL EXAMS ARE COMING SOON!!
As we approach the final 3 weeks of school, teachers are starting to finish up with the new learning in their classes and starting to review for the Final Exams. Teachers will be informing students of what they need to study for the exams so that hopefully they will do their best in preparing and be confident with the material. A reminder that exams are worth 10% of a students final grade so that along with the 4th quarter grade, 30% of a student's grade is still to be determined. There is still time for students to bring up their grades and demonstrate success in their classes.
