School News and Updates
As students settle into their classes, they are reminded that if they want to make any changes to their schedule, they must fill out a form in the Counseling office and their counselor will call them down for a meeting. Students have only 2 more weeks to make any changes.
Amazing job by Jahzara McLaughlin, who was selected this past summer to participate in the New Jersey Scholars Program, a dynamic learning environment at the Lawrenceville School where only 39 high school students were selected to experience an inter-disciplinary college-level five-week summer program, expanding their intellectual abilities by approaching the summer’s topic from many different directions. This past summer's topic that these students explored was Wartime Cultures: Knowledge and Art in Conflict and the Aftermath.

Important Reminders
DHS will be hosting Back to School Night on September 18th, starting at 6:30 pm. Come out to meet all of the teachers and get a chance to tour the building. We will speak about expectations for the new school year and opportunities available to the students.
This year's Student Council will be preparing DHS for Homecoming on October 4th. We will hold Spirit Week Sept. 30 - Oct. 4, culminating in the annual Pep Rally and the Homecoming football game. This year the team will be taking on Roselle Park, with the game starting at 6:00 pm at Columbia Park. The Student Council officers this year will be: President - Douglas Guardado Sibrian; Vice-President - Jah’nasia Haynesworth; Secretary - Megan North; Treasurer - Ella Walker.

Academic Corner
This past summer was the first time in about 10 years that DHS did not have a major renovation project. To further enhance our Computers and Computer Science classes, we have added to our Tech Center a laser cutter and additional 3-D printers so that students can continue to engage with this technology in Mr. Santiago and Mr. Lakatos’ Coding, Robotics, and Engineering classes.
Mr. Lynch, principal, and Mr. Tobin, assistant principal, took time this week to welcome back the students and talk with each grade level during their PE classes. They reviewed academic expectations, rewarded students through the Renaissance program, and reviewed discipline and safety expectations.
