Welcome Letter
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope the summer has treated you and your family well. As we wind down the summer with the final week of August, allow me to introduce myself as the new Principal of Lincoln Middle School. My career in education began as a Math teacher at LMS in 2002, before becoming the DHS Assistant Principal in 2015. Now, as the Principal at LMS, I am excited to work with the parents, staff, and students on our journey towards a successful year for all. Please take a moment to read about some important information and upcoming dates below.
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 2nd. The first day is a half-day, beginning at 7:50am and ending at 12:09pm. Arrival time is 7:40am - 7:50am at the Cafeteria entrance (Door 9) by the parking lot. Please be sure to have your child(ren) arrive on time.
I would also like to inform you that student schedules are now available to view on Genesis. Please take a few minutes to review and acknowledge all documents on both the Parent and Student Portals. Users will not be able to view any schedules, grades, or other areas of the student’s Genesis account until all the forms have been completed in both portals.

After collecting feedback from educators, administrators, parents and the Dunellen Board of Education, Lincoln Middle School has adjusted our practice of tracking students by phasing out honors-level courses. This shift will provide students with more opportunities to reach their potential and give more students an opportunity to engage with challenging content and skills in their courses. As always, teachers will continue to differentiate their lessons, in order to challenge all students at their current levels. Eighth-grader students who meet the criteria to be recommended for honors courses will still be able to enroll in those courses in high school.
Please also be on the lookout for information on a Meet-and-Greet with me and the LMS families on September 6 at 9am.
I look forward to welcoming you and your child(ren) back to LMS on September 2nd. Enjoy the final days of the summer vacation!
Sincerely,
Cuyler Tobin
