DHS students will be participating in taking the New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) and the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment (NJGPA) field tests on November 12th and 13th. The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) is transitioning to updated, adaptive assessments, which means the test questions will automatically adjust in difficulty based on a student’s previous answers.
The students will take the assessments during the school day.

Important Reminders

Class of 2025 & 2026: Please check your Genesis account for a document concerning the requirement of schools to provide certain student information to military recruiters, institutions of higher learning, and/or prospective employers, unless otherwise notified. There is a form to fill out if you do not consent to the disclosure of this information to these groups.

The 2025-2026 Exodus Yearbook is officially on sale.
Destroyer Dollars!  Did you know our students can earn Destroyer Dollars for demonstrating excellence both in and out of the classroom? Whether it’s showing academic growth, lending a helping hand, or being caught doing something truly amazing, these positive behaviors are recognized and rewarded!
When students receive Destroyer Dollars, they can enter our monthly raffle for prizes, enjoy a snack, or even earn a positive call home to celebrate their success. It’s our way of reinforcing the great choices our students make every day and building a school culture that values respect, effort, and pride. Keep up the great work, Destroyers!

The DHS Homework Help Center will run from 2:45 - 3:45 pm, and every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the DHS Tech Center. Students can come to get extra help from teachers with their school work or just sit and have a quiet place to get things done. We encourage students to attend so that they have fewer or no assignments to do when they get home.

Academic Corner: From the prestigious desk of Ms. Powell

From Personal Ethics to Company Vision
In Leadership for Life class, students explored the tenets of ethical leadership and developed personal codes of ethics. Focusing on honesty and transparency, they will apply their learning by creating mock companies, including business missions, visions, and roles.

Reading Success in Ms. Fragale’s Class!
Ms. Fragale’s students recently finished Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, and the response was overwhelmingly positive! Many students gave the book five stars, showing their enthusiasm and engagement with the story. Great job, class—what a win for reading!
