Main Entrance

Hello Destroyers

The Dunellies are HERE!! TONIGHT ONLY. The show starts at 7 pm in the DHS Auditorium for the Drama Club's annual Dunellies Award program. See all of your favorite members of the fall play and spring musical as they share some performances and acknowledge the efforts of the group from the past year.

This Sunday, May 10th is Mother’s Day!! Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing mothers for all of the love, support, and attention they give to their children each and every day. It’s the hardest - and most rewarding - job there is!

DHS would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our school nurse, Mrs. MacManus during National School Nurse’s Week, for the care, skill, calm, and compassion she shows every single day. From treating everyday bumps and headaches to supporting students with ongoing health needs, she helps keep our schools safe, healthy, and ready to learn.

School News and Updates

Thank you to all of the Teachers/Staff at DHS as we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. Their hard work and dedication for the students of Dunellen is evident on a daily basis and continues to go a long way towards their success in school and afterwards. Many 'thank you's' as we move towards the conclusion of the school year.

The Dunellen PTO out did themselves again this year by providing the staff with snacks, meals and desserts for Teacher Appreciation Week. The PTO generously gave amazing food, gifts and prizes for the staff.

This was a big week for field trips for various groups of students at DHS. Students had the opportunity to visit Mane Stream Horse Farm in Oldwick, where they got to experience equine services and therapy. Another group visited the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, experiencing sharks, hippos, and various other sea creatures. And finally, students visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, viewing works of art from the ancient to the modern. All groups had fantastic, educational days.

The upcoming week marks the FINAL WEEK for many of our Seniors before they head off to their Practicum internship. Many of our Seniors have exciting opportunities ahead of them as they gain real life experience at a job they may be interested in pursuing in the future.

Important Reminders

For the Class of 2026: The College Acceptances bulletin board is up at DHS. We are displaying the names of students and the colleges that they have been accepted to. As the college acceptances roll in, please be sure to contact Dr. Best and the Counseling Office so that they are aware and can add the names and schools for display.

REMINDER: The DHS Homework Help Center runs from 2:45 - 3:45 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the DHS Tech Center. Students can come to get extra help from teachers with their school work or just sit and have a quiet place to get things done. We encourage students to attend so that they have fewer or no assignments to do when they get home.

Last call for the Class of 2026: DHS has a Senior Practicum program, open to 12th grade students for the last 4 weeks of the school year, where they have a chance to do an internship at a local business or organization that may help them learn more about a potential career. Instead of attending school each day, the students work under the supervision of the adults at their site for 5 hours per day. Any interested 12th grader should speak to Ms. Piano for more information.

In Mr. Roibal and Mr. Howard's art classes, students are creating their own personal ceramic pieces while learning foundational pottery techniques. They have guided students step by step through the creative process, teaching them how to score and slip the clay, mold pieces together, and use methods such as the slab technique and coil method to bring their ideas to life. Students demonstrated creativity, patience, and craftsmanship as they designed and built their unique ceramic projects.

In Mr. Kupiec’s English IV classes, students are currently compiling resources and finalizing research for their senior term papers. After submitting their drafts, students have been revising and refining their work while strengthening their research, organization, and writing skills. Throughout the process, students have demonstrated critical thinking and dedication as they worked toward completing this important culminating assignment.
